During NBA's All-Star weekend on Friday evening, Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups were revealed among the 14 finalists for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's 2024 class.
Carter, with a 22-year tenure across seven NBA teams, garnered eight All-Star nods, notably with the Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets. Renowned for his memorable 2000 dunk contest display, he retired among the league's top 25 scorers of all time.«Unbelievable, I loved to play, more than anything. It wasn't about the numbers. I was asked probably five years prior to retiring, Why are you still playing? You're killing your average.' And I said, But I still love to play.' And that's what mattered.»
Carter relayed the information to ESPN.
As for Billups, currently guiding the Portland Trail Blazers, he amassed 17 seasons across seven teams. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the Detroit Pistons' 2004 championship triumph and secured five All-Star nods throughout his career.
