Nikola Jokic has called out the NBA for the mandatory 65 game policy it has in place for being eligible for the MVP Award.
«We saw what happened with Joel,» Jokic said. « I just don't like it, how it forces players to play even if they're injured if they want to achieve something.»
Philadelphia 76ers Phenom Joel Embiid was of course affected by this ruling when he tried to play through a torn meniscus. After the team was fined for sitting Embiid shortly before a game against Joker's Nuggets. He then tried to force himself to play and possibly made the injury worse and is now sitting out long term after surgery.
Other star players around the league like Lebron James and Draymond Green have called out this policy as well.
Will this be enough for the NBA to make a change? Only time will tell, but it is a universally hated rule around the NBA.
